Well promising ‘Indonesian Ryan Giggs’ is recommended by John Duerden to play in Europe

AFF Cup 2010 is already past, that event brought a new-born star to the ASEAN World. A promising footballer gave Indonesia as runner-up after defeated by Malaysia with an 4-2 aggregate (3-0; 2-1).

Oktovianus ‘Okto’ Maniani was born in Papua, Indonesia on October 10, 1990. He is an member of Garuda who plays for Sriwijaya FC now. Okto also played for PSMS Medan (2008-2009), and Persitara (2009-2010). The advantages of this player are speed, great physical endurance, and a good long-distance shooting. The high is only 1.59 m (5 ft 3 in) made him capable of running hard and slipped between the opponent defenders.

Okto now becomes one of the new stars in football world, and thanks to his ‘beautiful’ action with the Garuda in the football event of Southeast Asian countries. Moreover, he also contributed one goal when Garuda slaughter Laos by 6-0. It became his first goal on the international stage.
“As you would expect in the world’s largest continent, there is talent aplenty is Asia”, said John Duerden in his article Eastern Promise which broadcasted by espn.go.com.

John Duerden also said that Okto is playing as flying winger who burst onto the regional scene at the recent of AFF Suzuki Cup which Indonesia made the final before being defeated by Malaysia.

“Oktovianus is certainly good to watch as he hares down the left flank and, at the tender age of 20, is only going to improve. If the ‘Indonesian Ryan Giggs’ is to match up to the original, he needs to follow in his footsteps and find a consistent end product. Still very raw but that just makes him all the more exciting”, told by Duerden.

  1. Such a teriffic player!

I enjoyed his performance when he played in AFF Cup 2010, lately.

Pacey winger but he should have to train his crossing ability, though he made assist for Irfan Bachdim when Indonesia beat Malaysia 5-1 at the qualification round.
